“It’s not so much a matter of what you buy, but whom you help by buying it. Piñatas for sale at the Ruach community home!”
Julio, Anielka and Silva glow when looking up to the place where our creative billboard announces that we have piñatas for sale. These are the first products of our activities club.
Piñatas are used at children’s parties. People put sweets into a piñata, a kind of balloon, that is hung up high. Blindfolded children then take it in turns to try and hit the piñata while the piñata is being swung high and low. After a while the piñata bursts and the sweets drop to the floor. The aim is to secure as many sweets as possible.
All participants of the activities club join in with the 4-step process of making a balloon into a beautiful piñata, under the inspirational leadership of Eva. She caringly takes the skills of each participant into account. For the time being Eva still adds the finishing touches, assisted by some volunteers. The sale brings in much more than just money. It is also publicity for our work, and appreciation for our participants who see that there is a market for their produce.
If you would symbolically like to buy a piñata, you can transfer an (extra) amount into the account of Vivir juntos citing ‘piñata’.
