Good wine does not need to be advertised. But our foundation is so young that we must make a special effort to ensure that people know we exist.
During the official opening we were therefore dressed in our recognizable Ruach T-shirts (see pictures of the official opening in a previous blog). In Nicaragua, wearing of uniforms is common, so it was expected that our new assistants soon asked whether they would also get a uniform. It helps the ‘outside world’ to know where they work, while it also increases our visibility. Of course it is quite an easy way of promoting the work of the Foundation.
Recently our ‘casa hogar’ (community home) and our activities club premises have been adorned with a sign board, so that it’s obvious where we are (see picture). Even if passers-by are not searching for us, the display of our name will attract attention and create awareness that we exist, which of course will make it easier for people to find us when they do need us.
Finally, Ana Alicia, (the chair of the Foundation), and myself, (the coordinator of the community home), now both have business cards. They look nice in the Foundation’s colours of blue and orange. Earlier in my career I often thought of having a business card, but I never got round to actually getting them. But not this time. What remains is to ensure that we’ve got them at hand and hand them out when needed!
