Three times lucky. Some time ago we had the bright idea to organize a get-together for family members of the Ruach employees in our Home and Activities Centre.
The idea to involve family members by providing them with more information about Ruach and to give them a chance to see where their relatives work appealed to everyone. But it was hard to find a suitable date. But hey presto! 13 January was possible. To keep tabs on the numbers, every member of staff was asked to invite not more than three relatives.
Programme
We made a nice programme with a formal informative section followed by an informal part for chat and an exchange of stories while enjoying a drink and a special bread snack. As we were also expecting children we had put up a piñata filled with sweets made by the participants of the Activities Centre. At the end of the party we showed people round our new Home.
Almost everyone who was invited showed up and there was a good atmosphere. I gave a Powerpoint presentation about the aims, activities and achievements of the Foundation in our first year. We were pleased with the real interest of the invitees, and the children enjoyed the content of the piñata. After two hours everyone left for home and we were all well satisfied.
Evaluation
We evaluated the party the next day in our Team meeting. All employees felt very positive, and we started thinking how we could follow up on this event in due course. There are so many ways to work on increasing awareness and involvement. Hopefully we will continue having this kind of bright idea!
